Says the People of Iskele to the World

They struggled to make the homeland we live on more liveable, free and independent, and they gifted the Republic to the Turkish Cypriot People. They also declared the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as an independent state in front of the world and history. They were engraved not only in the pages of history, but also in memory; Dr. Fazıl Küçük, Rauf Raif Denktaş, Osman Örek and many other heroes… The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which gained its independence on November 15, 1983 and was declared by the Founding President Rauf Denktaş, is 41 years old today.

OUR REPUBLIC IS 41 YEARS OLD

The anniversary of the proclamation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and our Republic Day are celebrated with ceremonies held throughout the country. 15 November Republic Day, our biggest holiday, was celebrated with great pride and excitement in İskele. The ceremonies held in İskele for the 41st anniversary of our Republic took place at Atatürk Monument and Ecevit Square. The ceremony in front of the Atatürk Monument, which started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, ended with the presentation of wreaths to the Atatürk Monument.

After the ceremony in front of the Atatürk Monument, the second ceremony, which included an official parade, took place in Ecevit Square. The ceremonies were attended by Iskele District Governor Ertuğrul Toroslu, İskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu, Engineer Major Mahir Güzel on behalf of KTBK, Infantry Major Emrah Koçyiğit on behalf of GKK, İskele Police Director Gökay Karagil, Civil Defence Organization Presidency Iskele Regional Director Cemal Betmezoğlu, representatives of schools, institutions and organizations and the public.

TOROSIAN: “WE LOVE THIS FLAG UNCONDITIONALLY”

İskele District Governor Ertuğrul Toroslu made the opening speech of the ceremony in Ecevit Square, which started with the celebration of the ceremonial troops and the public by Pier District Governor Ertuğrul Toroslu, İskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu, Infantry Major Emrah Koçyiğit on behalf of the GKK. In his speech stating the meaning and importance of the day, Toroslu said, “Our state is our sovereignty, our freedom, our will” and continued: “The Republic is the result of the great victory achieved at the end of the national struggle of a nation that has lost everything to gain its national independence. Today, as we celebrate the 41st anniversary of our Republic, we look to the future with great hope and faith.”

At the end of his speech, Toroslu said, “We loved this flag unconditionally, we gave countless martyrs for it,” and at the end of his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the Motherland Republic of Turkey, which is with us today and always, as it was yesterday, and congratulated all the people on the Republic Day.

GÜVEN “WE ARE PROUD TO CELEBRATE THE 41ST ANNIVERSARY OF THE REPUBLIC”

The last speech stating the meaning and importance of the day was made by Infantry Lieutenant Erdoğan Ogün Güven from the GKK. Stating that they are proud of celebrating the 41st anniversary of the TRNC, Infantry Lieutenant Erdoğan Ogün Güven pointed out that the Republic is the most valuable response of the Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle for freedom against oppression and injustice, shoulder to shoulder with Motherland Turkey.

Remembering all those who helped create the TRNC

Reminding that the TRNC was declared on November 15, 1983 on the way to national sovereignty despite the opposition of the entire world, Karadağ expressed his gratitude to the Mujahideen, Mujahideen and the strugglers who were instrumental in celebrating it with enthusiasm and stood heroically against the Greek Cypriots. At the end of his speech, Montenegro commemorated the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Community Leader of the Turkish Cypriot People Dr. Fazıl Küçük, the Founding President of the TRNC Rauf Raif Denktaş and all the heroic and saintly martyrs who have passed on to eternity with mercy and gratitude.

THEY TOLD THE REPUBLIC WITH POEMS

Poems describing the Republic were also read at the ceremonies in İskele. Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School İskele student Hira Aydemir read her poem titled ‘What the Republic Tells You’ and İskele Evkaf TMK Student İsmail Sefer read his poem ‘My Cyprus’. The ceremony, in which the İskele Municipality Folk Dance Ensemble also performed, ended with the official parade and the presentation of the dates, which were matured and specially packaged after being collected by the Iskele Municipality from the İskele Municipality Public Beach about 1 month ago, to the public.
