Iskele Municipality Celebrates Turkiye 101st Birthday

The Republic of Turkey is 101 Years Old

The Republic, which was bequeathed to the Turkish people by the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and went down in history with golden letters, is 101 years old. The 101st anniversary of October 29, 1923, the day the establishment of the Republic of Turkey was announced to the whole world, was celebrated with ceremonies throughout the TRNC.

A large number of people from age 7 to 70 participated in the ceremonies in İskele, where pride and enthusiasm prevailed. The ceremonies, at the Atatürk Monument and Ecevit Square, were attended by İskele District Governor Ertuğrul Toroslu, İskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu,

Infantry Major Emrah Koçyiğit, on behalf of the GKK, Artillery, Colonel Anıl Yıldız, on behalf of the KTBK, Director of Tourism, Promotion and Marketing Department Mine Emiroğlu, Iskele Police Chief Iskele Police Director Gökay Karagil, Civil Defense Organization Presidency Iskele Regional Director Cemal Betmezoğlu, representatives of schools, institutions and organizations and the public attended.

After the ceremony at the Atatürk Monument, where wreaths were presented, a moment of silence was held, and flags were hoisted to the accompaniment of the National Anthem.  The ceremony in Ecevit Square started with the celebration of the people’s holiday by Iskele District Governor Ertuğrul Toroslu, İskele Mayor Hasan Sadıkoğlu, Infantry Major Emrah Koçyiğit, and continued with the concert of the Security Forces Command Band.

29 October, Republic Day ,Was Celebrated with Enthusiasm in Iskele

At the ceremony in Ecevit Square, Bekirpaşa High School Turkish Language and Literature teacher Elif Besimoğlu read the poem ’29 October’ by Dr. Suat Günsel State Primary School Iskele students Zeynep Zorlu and Ali Cevizli, and the poem ‘Today’ was read by Iskele Evkaf Turkish Maarif College student Nisanur Şık read the poem. At the 29 October Republic Day celebrations held in İskele Ecevit Square, İskele Municipality Folk Dance Ensemble also presented a dance show.
