Girne Farewell Dinner For International Cartoon Contest Jury

Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul, as Honorary President, hosted a farewell dinner at the Girne Dome Hotel for the members of the International Jury who had completed the judging for the 13th International Cartoon Contest (2024).

In his speech at the farewell dinner, Murat Şenkul thanked the members of the International Jury for their contributions and said: “Due to the intense problems in the city of Girne, I was unable to attend the jury meetings as Honorary President. However, I am eagerly awaiting to see the cartoons that will win awards at the end of the objection period. The International Cartoon Contest is an important event that introduces the city of Girne and the Olive product to the world. In the coming years, we will overcome technical and economic problems and take this event to a better place. I would like to thank all my friends who served as jury members.”

Hüseyin Çakmak, Secretary General of the Cyprus Turkish Cartoonists Association, also spoke at the ceremony and thanked Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul, Girne Municipal Council Members and Girne Municipality Cultural Affairs Department officials for continuing the International Cartoon Contest after he took office.

Following the speeches, Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul and Girne Municipal Council Members presented commemorative plaques to the members of the International Jury who served in the 13th International Cartoon Contest.
