13th International Cartoon and Humour Competition Jury Appointed
The 13th International Cartoon and Humour Festival Competition, 2024, organized traditionally this year by Girne Municipality and Cyprus Turkish Cartoonists Association, has started its work. The jury for the 13th Festival Competition, held as part of the 23rd International Olive Festival by Girne Municipality, was introduced at a press conference held on Monday, July 1st at the Dome Hotel.
Present at the press conference were Girne Municipality Council Members Ali Tektan, Hüseyin Çakır, Mete Ünal Girgen, Kani Medo Çağla, Ziya Egemen Sencer, as well as Girne Municipal Director Hüseyin Köle, Chief Advisor Mustafa İlgen, and Cyprus Turkish Cartoonists Association Board Member Hüseyin Çakmak and Musa Kayra. Information was provided about this year’s competition during the meeting. It was also announced at the press conference that this year, for the first time, black and white drawings were invited for consideration. A total of 543 works have been entered for the competition. The artworks participating in the competition will be evaluated until July 4th.
10 Jury Members From 3 Countries
This year, works in the competition will be judged by jury members from three different countries, including prominent figures from the international cartoon community. The jurors include members from the Cyprus Turkish Cartoonists Association: Serhan Gazioğlu, Hüseyin Çakmak, Musa Kayra, Elif Atamaz, Zafer Tutkulu, as well as Sergii Riabokon and Olena Tsuranova from Ukraine, and Kemal Özyurt and Fahriye Çıtaklı from Turkey. As in every year, the Mayor of Girne, Murat Şenkul, will also serve as Honorary President on the jury.
543 Works From 40 Countries
It was reported that an amazing 543 artworks from 149 artists from 40 countries will be reviewed in the 13th Cartoon and Humour Festival and Cartoon Competition, reflecting the themes ‘Olive’ and ‘Free’.
